As the father of four daughters, Jack Martins is focused on making Nassau County a better place to live, work and raise a family. As Nassau County Executive, Jack is committed to ending the corruption that has compromised the public’s trust in government, protecting local property taxpayers and creating an economic renaissance to provide a brighter future for the middle class.
To ease the burden on state taxpayers, Jack worked to pass fiscally responsible, on time state budgets that capped spending. By controlling state spending, these budgets included two of the largest personal income tax cuts in state history for the middle class--reducing tax rates for middle class families to the lowest level since 1948. When fully effective, the 2016 tax cut passed by Jack Martins will cut income taxes by more than $4 billion per year.
By addressing all four aspects of the fight against heroin abuse (prevention, treatment, recovery and law enforcement), Jack is working to protect the most vulnerable, help those struggling with addiction and prevent the flow of these deadly drugs into our communities.
Jack Martins passed an amendment to the state constitution prohibiting elected officials who are convicted of public corruption from receiving taxpayer-funded government pensions.
In the State Senate, Jack dramatically cut state taxes on the small businesses that are the engine of the local economy. Martins also eliminated the unfair MTA Payroll Tax for Nassau County’s small businesses so they can compete and grow.
